Thème 20 – Le petit prince – Catherine (english version)
Amilibriste | 5 décembre 2011Petit évènement sur le blog ! (autre le fait qu’un nouveau texte vient enfin d’apparaitre
)
Première participation internationale ! Tkank you Catherine, and welcone here !
Birthday Boy (or girl)
Come down little prince, your party crowns are waiting
And your cakes and presents,
Far too many from the grandparents I’m sure, but I don’t mind that now.
They cannot spoil you.
Come out! We are not cross with you.
There is no shame in being shy. Or are you being coy?
I bet you are, you diva, frothing up the crowd
So when you do appear your supporters cannot fail to be entranced.
Come on. It’s getting late and soon the party will be over and the friends will leave.
If you come, I’ll write a book of stories just for you.
I’ll give up all my adult verse for nonsense rhymes and fairy tales.
Please, because we’re anxious now
And the cheeky smiles of friends have faded into pity that I cannot bear.
Daddy thinks he’s stoical, but I can see the cracks beginning
And his smile has the stiff upper lip and clenching jaw
That I reserve for family occasions, kind enquiries for my health
And the days when the entire world is full of little princes,
But none of them are mine.
C.
